Competitions and More
Hazelnut Farms offers a multitude of off and on-property experiences for our clients. We believe in creating a well-rounded horse and rider by providing fun and educational opportunities.
Clinics: Hazlenut Farms offers access to clinics both on and off-property. We have attended local dressage clinics with top-level riders like Olympian Lars Peterson. Our at-home clinics vary from dressage intensives with Lynn Medeo, to horsemanship clinics with Sarah Vanecek, and to jumping clinics with top-level riders and trainers. Pricing and other details vary from clinic to clinic. Please contact us for more information.

Hunter Paceing: Hazelnut Farms offers our riders the opportunity to compete in local Hunter Paces in the area. We compete in local pace circuits in the Fairfield-Westchester County area. Hunter paces are a great way for horses and riders to explore the beautiful area surrounding our property. Most of our school horses are trained to hunter pace in a team. Teams consist of 2-3 Hazelnut Farms riders. In addition to hunter paces being fun and beneficial to horse-and-rider teams, they are a great way for Hazelnut Farms riders to get to know each other, and foster the family-like environment we pride ourselves on.

Horse Shows: Hazelnut Farms offers training at local horse shows for our riders. We travel to local hunter/jumper shows at locations like Old Salem Farm, Fairfield County Hunt Club, Marchant Farm, the GRTA shows, and more. We also compete at dressage shows, in addition to hosting our in-barn dressage competition. In-barn dressage competitions are judged by a USDF-rated judge and allow our riders to receive constructive comments in preparation for real competitions. Show pricing varies based on location and class details. Please contact us for more information.

Trail Rides: Hazelnut Farms is located close to many picturesque trail systems and rideable preserves. We are a short trailer ride away from a large expansive preserve system with rideable trails and jumps. Our more advanced leaders and borders take advantage of local cross-country courses. Riders can go on the trails either for fun or for hunter-pace preparations. Most of our school horses are trained to ride out with a partner or a group of 3.
